Conserve. Create. Heal.
Urgent Call to Action: The Heart of the Chocó Andino
The Chocó Andino of Ecuador is a vital biodiversity hotspot. This pristine cloudforest, home to the Andean Spectacled Bear and hundreds of unique species, faces imminent threats of deforestation and land exploitation.
Protecting the 142 hectares (and eventually more) adjacent to our center is critical to preserving its unique ecosystems, combating climate change, and safeguarding the sacred balance of life.
Immediate action is required to prevent irreversible loss and protect this irreplaceable natural treasure for future generations.
Proven to be an effective conservation approach, the strategic acquisition of small patches of land is an extremely targeted and cost-effective tool to protect nature. By securing these critical areas, we provide essential habitats that support biodiversity and ecological resilience.
Once the land has been acquired, it becomes part of a nature reserve, a sanctuary for woldlife, safeguarded for future generations and allowing species to simply BE, without the pressures of habitat destruction and human encroachment.
To help us manage and expand protected areas, we raise awareness and promote conservation through spiritual, artistic & nature retreats on our own land (not the acquired land/nature reserve), birdwatching, and by inviting research groups to study species in their natural habitats. These activities not only enhance our understanding of biodiversity but also generate support and funding for ongoing conservation efforts.
At this crucial moment in our planets history, the loss of such biodiverse and pristine forests affects us all.
The Chocó Andino cloudforest plays a crucial role in regulating the climate, maintaining water cycles, and serving as a refuge for countless endemic and endangered bird, mammal and amphibian species. Deforestation not only threatens biodiversity but also accelerates climate change and disrupts local, and global, communities dependent on these ecosystems.
